Porn Talk and Tea

AGENDA (the Feminist Journal) has asked Dr Lilian Artz to do a piece on Contemporary Feminism Conversations on Pornography. The reason for this is that there has been relatively little published contemporary feminist scholarship on pornography in South Africa.  The idea is to get a group of feminists together and to have a free-flow conversation about porn.

The basis of the discussion is deceptively simple: When is pornography harmful (if at all)?

It doesn’t matter what side of the issue you are on. Whether you are a “pornography is the theory, rape is the practice” (a la Robin Morgan) type or a “feminist [in] defence of pornography” (a al Wendy McElroy) type, or somewhere in between, uncertain and vacillating, you are most welcome.

The conversation will be taped and names cited if, of course, you agree to be quoted and to have your name published. Or you can remain anonymous.
