Rebecca Hodes is a medical historian based at the University of Cape Town. Her current research focuses on the medical history of abortion, and on science, race and sex in South African history. Rebecca received her D.Phil from the Wellcome Unit for the History of Medicine, Oxford University. Her research has been published in the Journal of Southern African Studies, Social History of Medicine, South African Medical Journal and Science as Culture. Rebecca is the principal investigator on collaborative research project about adolescent adherence to antiretroviral treatment, funded by the International AIDS Society. She is also a 2013 – 2014 fellow on the American Council of Learned Societies’ African Humanities Program. Her monograph, Broadcasting the Pandemic, was published by the Human Sciences Research Council Press in 2014.
