Alana Baranov

Alana Baranov is a freelance writer, activist and dreamer who has recently moved back to her hometown of Durban. She holds an MPhil in Justice and Transformation from the University of Cape Town and a BA Honours degree in International Relations and History from the University of KwaZulu Natal. Alana has spent the last few years as a diplomatic liaison and senior researcher for various community-based NGOs, with a focus on hate crime and hate speech as well as refugee and migrant rights, and is active in the Zimbabwean democracy advocacy movement. Alana has a passion for travel and has recently returned from a hilarious and chaotic adventure across Europe with her husband.
